The Al Neuharth Free Spirit Awards

This award recognizes top high school journalism seniors who are free spirits, as well as other free-spirited individuals. This honors Al Neuharth the founder of the Freedom Forum and USA TODAY. One female and one male are selected from each state to recieve a scholarship and the opportunity to attend the conference. Of these students two will be selected to receive a 50,000 college scholarships. The scholarship is 1000. Qualifications

1. You must be a high school senior graduating in the spring/summer semester of 2008.
2. You must be committed to pursuing a career in journalism.
3. You must demonstrate qualities of a "free spirit."
